MISSION STATEMENT
We support the quality of life for older adults and their caregivers by providing cost effective adult day service in a pleasant, supervised and safe environment. THOSE WHO ATTEND ADULT DAY CARE Individuals who attend an adult day care program are in a supervised setting where they are monitored for fall prevention, good nutritional/fluid intake and daily health monitoring. They participate in daily activities and interact with others so they stay socially connected. They are involved in exercises and activities that encourage range of motion and movement which improves their overall health. Without this program many of these individuals would be left home unsupervised which places them at risk of a fall, wandering away from home, not eating correctly, low fluid intake, lack of social stimulation and increases depression. For many this results the need to be prematurely place in a 24 hour care facility because of a lack of a community based service to help their caregivers with caregiving. |
HOURS: Monday - Friday, WHAT ARE ADULT DAY SERVICES |
CAREGIVERS OF THOSE WHO ATTEND ADULT DAY CARE The caregiver of those who attend and adult day services program receive many benefits because they are able to go to work knowing the person they care for is receiving good supervised care . Having the program provides them with peace of mind so they are more productive at work. They have fewer absences because they avoid many caregiving issues. Adult day service programs allows the older caregiver respite so they can do the things they need to do and take better care of their own health. The program provides relief from the caregiving role which helps decrease the stress of caregiving. Dr. Stephen Zarit of Penn State found significant reduction in the hormone corticol (which is released in response to stress) in caregivers whose loved ones attended adult day care.
