As a 501(c)(3) nonprofit, the M.E. Cox Center does much more than care for its clients on a daily basis. M.E. Cox Center is committed to supporting caregivers throughout the community, not only those with someone at the Center. Our programs include free resource information and referrals, community outreach events, and support groups. MISSION STATEMENT
We support the quality of life for older adults and their caregivers by providing cost effective adult day service in a pleasant, supervised and safe environment.
M. E. Cox Center Adult Day Services offers peace of mind to caregiver families who must work outside the home or just need respite from the arduous task of 24-hour caregiving. As more people live longer with fewer affordable resources for care, M. E. Cox Center Adult Day Care has become a resource of choice for many families. You or one of your family members or friends may even need a day care program one day.
Medicare does not cover day care costs - keeping fees affordable while providing the highest quality service is always a challenge. A full day at the Center costs the caregiver only $63 a day and includes lunch and snacks, activities, socialization and medical monitoring. Daily fees cover only a portion of funds required to operate the Center. Family, community donations and other fund raising events held throughout the year are necessary to supply needed client scholarships, ensure building maintenance and secure the high quality staffing required. Caregiver education is an integral part of our mission. In January, M. E. Cox hosted a day-long seminar for families and professional caregivers. The interactive workshop, Positive Caregiving - Navigating the Course of Dementia was facilitated by Teepa Snow, MS, OTR/L, TAOTA, an occupational therapist with over 33 years experience working in geriatrics and dementia care. We had 170 attendees for the day but needed much more space to accommodate the growing demand and meet the needs for our community in dementia caregiving. Many caregivers were turned way due to lack of space, and we must meet this demand. The Center will host another workshop in March, 2015. Caregivers are in great need for the educational tools required to help keep their loved one at home. Our goal is to provide this support and education to our clients, community and the medical professionals. In 2013, M. E. Cox Center provided 35,527 hours of program services supporting a budget of over $340,000 and provided $42,000 in client scholarships. Please help us provide 40 more years of adult day care to area families with a contribution to our mission. We are a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization and all donations are tax deductible. Be apart of our mission to continue providing the best possible care to our clients and caregivers. |
